Appealing is free and takes a few minutes. It is also unlikely to work for an exploit related ban, and it is better to know that before you invest hope in it.
This covers the process, what to write, and what to realistically expect.
Before You Appeal
Check whether you need to. Suspensions expire automatically, so appealing a three day ban is usually pointless because it will lift before anyone reads your message.
Appeals make sense for permanent deletions, or for a ban you believe was issued in error.
The Process
- Go to the Roblox support page while logged out.
- Select the account issue category.
- Enter the username of the banned account and a contact email.
- Describe the situation briefly.
- Submit and wait.
Use the email associated with the account where possible. Appeals from unrelated addresses are harder to verify and more likely to receive an automated reply.
What To Write
Keep it short. Whoever reads it handles a very large volume and long messages do not get more attention.
A workable structure:
- State the username and that the account was banned.
- Say briefly what happened, honestly.
- Say what you will do differently.
- Ask for the decision to be reviewed.
Three or four sentences is enough.
What Not To Write
These actively hurt you.
- Claiming your account was hacked when it was not. This is the most common appeal and moderators recognise it instantly.
- Blaming a sibling or friend. Same problem.
- Listing how much money you spent. Spending is not a mitigating factor.
- Anger or threats. These end the conversation.
- Multiple appeals in quick succession. This can be treated as abuse of the system.
Honesty performs better than a bad excuse, because a bad excuse tells the reviewer you are not taking it seriously.
What To Expect
| Outcome | Likelihood for exploit bans |
|---|---|
| Automated response, no change | Most common |
| Human review, upheld | Common |
| Reduced from deletion to suspension | Uncommon |
| Fully reversed | Rare |
Response times vary from a few days to a few weeks. Many people receive nothing beyond an automated acknowledgement.
If The Appeal Fails
Accept it and move on. A second appeal restating the same thing will not succeed, and repeated appeals can make things worse.
Do not pay anyone claiming they can restore the account. Every such offer is a scam, and the people making them frequently target players who have just lost something they cared about.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does appealing ever work for exploiting? Occasionally, most often where a first offence resulted in an unusually severe action. It is uncommon.
How many times can I appeal? Once per decision is the sensible limit. Repeated submissions are counterproductive.
Can my parent appeal for me? Yes, particularly for accounts belonging to younger users, and it sometimes receives more careful attention.
Is there a phone number to call? No. Roblox handles moderation appeals through its support form only.
